About the Authors
Leslie Miller is a lifelong resident of Mississippi and a storyteller with a passion for weaving imaginative tales that spark wonder and inspire young readers. Her belief in the power of storytelling has led her to embark on this project with Tyquaerious and Jahkereia Moore and her daughter, Karen Miller. With a natural talent for capturing the essence of characters and scenes, Mississippi native Karen Miller has a unique ability to visually translate a drawing into captivating story illustrations. Her passion for art and her enthusiasm for collaborating on this project have made her an invaluable partner in this creative endeavor. Together, Leslie and Karen, along with Tyquaerious and Jahkereia, have combined their talents to create this heartwarming story about perseverance and hope.

Tyquaerious Moore, affectionately known as “Bug,” is a 16-year-old sophomore at South Delta High School in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. With a passion for drawing, music, and storytelling, Bug's imagination runs wild. His gentle demeanor belies a mind brimming with curiosity and creativity. His love for animals has inspired his dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Jahkereia Moore, affectionately known as “Nanna,” is a vibrant 17-year-old senior at South Delta High School in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. Jahkereia is a lover of books and music, and her infectious cheerfulness lights up any room she enters. With a clear-eyed vision of her future, Jahkereia has decided to enlist in the military after graduating high school.

Dedication
Rolling Fork, Mississippi, was devastated by an EF4 tornado on March 24, 2023. The tornado caused complete destruction of the town and tragically resulted in the loss of 16 lives. This book is dedicated to all those who have persevered through adversity and weathered a storm, yet continue to build a strong foundation for future generations.
